Ebru Printing

This space has been quiet lately as I have been temporarily forced to wean myself off any major quilting projects to attend to other more demanding changes in work/personal life. It's been hard not to sneak into the sewing room and tinker around but must focus, the faster I sort out these tasks the sooner I can get back to sewing. Wish me luck, I need it!

To leave off, last month I went to a local craft show which had a Ebru screen printing booth. It's an old Turkish textile printing art form and the creative possibilities are endless.

I printed a silk scarf with pebbles in my favorite colors.

The process starts with a trough filled with water and sprinkling oil based paints on it.

You add the colors layer by layer till you are satisfied,

Then carefully place the scarf on the surface of the water and done! Couldn't be more simple.

The scarf was a Christmas gift to myself.

Anyway as the year winds down, I wish everyone happy holidays!! A big thank you to all my blog readers for encouraging me with your comments, it keeps me motivated to try new things. I look forward to sharing a lot more projects in 2014.
