Woe me but I just found out about Blogger's Quilt Festival happening over at Amy's Creative Side. So want to enter my flying geese quilt as an entry, but my previous post is a week old so need to create a new post to enter. Pardon the repetition but here goes:
I started this quilt in January of this year and has taken me a while to see it to completion. It started with my love of homespun madras cotton. I love the coarse crisp feel of the fabric. I do tend to lean towards triangles and flying geese seemed like the perfect way to showcase the fabric. I went with 'stich-in-the-ditch' quilting which emphasizes the blocks beautifully. You can read more about the making of the quilt here, here, here, here & here.

What a great use of plaids! I never would have thought to put them in flying geese, but it looks great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt, - I agree with the comment above, the plaids look really great. I also like the way you have placed positive and negative "geese".

ReplyDeletebeautiful quilt, love the negative space, and your color choices.
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern and your fabric choice really makes it modern feeling. Gives it a bet of a masculine edge. Great choice to stitch in the ditch.

ReplyDeleteI too love the beautiful calm colors - that's what really caught my eye from the thumbnail on BQF. But I love the plaids - the FG really show them off well. And I love the surprise of the "reverse color" geese - fun! That adds another layer of interest!
ReplyDeleteLove it's fresh, clean, classic, simplicity.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about your quilt ... colours , flying geese , plaids .
ReplyDeleteThe inverted geese add that bit of quirk :)
