Lone Star Quilt

A lone star quilt has long been on my bucket list of quilts to make. When I signed up for Sarah Bond 's workshop that was about variations with a lone star block, I decided to stick with the traditional pattern.

I have lately been experimenting with colors I normally would not work with which includes darker backgrounds, non primary colors, hues and shades I rarely see in my Instagram feed. One of the best ways to pick these colors is that they are the ones that are usually not sold out at a fabric store. :)

Anyway for this quilt I used a jelly roll of Kona solids in gray scale called Stormy Skies and Foxglove.

As for the quilting, I just echoed the blocks all the way to the edge of the quilt and machine bound it with the background fabric so that the star would stay as the focal point.

The quilt is finishes off at 80" x 80".
