Bloggers Quilt Festival - Fall 2015

I have been participating in Bloggers Quilt Festival hosted by Amy Ellis at Amy's Creative Side and look forward to seeing all the quilts submitted by bloggers all over the globe. She hosts them twice a year - spring and fall. This year for the Fall 2015 festival I am submitting two of my quilts I made this year. This is the second quilt I made with 'Doe' fabric collection by Carolyn Freidlander using her 'Totem' pattern. This one is very masculine by design as it was made for a friend who had wanted one for a while now. His favorite color is dark blue so I incorporated as much of the color as I thought was appropriate. You can read more about the making of this quilt here.

Bloggers Quilt Festival - Fall 2015

She hosts them twice a year - spring and fall. This year for the Fall 2015 festival I am submitting two of my quilts I made this year. The first one was for my niece and based on 'Cloud Song' a pattern by the late Kathreen Ricketson. I love all of her work and this was my way of paying her a tribute.
You can read more about the making of this quilt here. It warms my heart each time I see my niece snuggled up in the quilt. So totally worth every minute spent making it!

A million tiny stitches....

I have taken a million tiny stitches lately and it has been very therapeutic. It all started on my recent trip to Peru where I was inspired by the geometric shapes and bright colors. There was a sort of simplicity to things that I had the need to capture.

So I started to put the two together that lead to this journal cover.

I found it so inspiring and stress relieving that I moved on to another one, this time without batting.

Next I switched up the shape and followed up with more of the same.

Well I admit that this is no different than traditional 'Kantha' or 'Sashiko' stitching but I got into it by chance and since have been really studying this style of quilting. I even started a Pinterest board where I bookmarked good examples of of both styles. One advantage of having quilting as a hobby is you can work on whatever you like whenever you like and that is exactly what I am doing. I am not sure how long this phase will last or what will come of it but I am savoring it at this moment!
