Kitchen Windows quilt completed

Completed one more quilt. This one is special as I made it for my mum. I really do hope she likes it. This is the biggest quilt I have made so far, completed it measures 85" x 85". I quilted it diagonally and it was difficult to maintain straight lines on a small sewing machine but somehow it worked out. This quilt has definitely made me a fan of linen fabric and I think you will see me use it a lot more often in my quilts. I used stripped binding for my quilt. This is the first time I have used stripes and it does frame the quilt quite nicely. The backing is Folksy Flannel from Anna Maria Horner. It's very good quality and gives a real snug feel to the quilt. I prewashed all my fabric for this quilt so it's got a nice fresh smell about it. Any way without further adieu..

Had to add a little hand stitched note!

Easter dress

Decided to make an Easter/Birthday dress for my niece. Used another McCall pattern. I do still think the dress it big for a one year old. Here is the outcome, hopefully one day she will fit into it.

The quilting has begun

Started quilting the quilt. Decided to go with a diamond pattern. It's difficult to maintain straight lines on such a big quilt. Hopefully the imperfections are not too bad in the end. The picture also gives you an idea of the backing fabric I have used.

New fabric

I ordered a fat quarter bundle of Anna Maria Horner's Pastry Line fabric from her Little folks voile collection from Pink Chalk Fabrics. I love the colors, they remind me of my mum's sarees.

Quilt progress

Basted the quilt this weekend. This is the largest quilt I have made so far. Quilting it will be a task. Let's see how it goes. What is life without a little challenge.

Adding to the stash

Latest additions to the stash.
Folksy flannel by Anna Maria Horner bought from Pink Chalk Fabrics. Absolutely love this flannel range. Great quality too.

Parson Gray Curious Nature by David Butler bought from fatquartershop. I have a lot of cutesy fabric so this will be a good addition for contrast.

Flying geese quilt progress

My machine has been whirring away making more flying geese. Here is a quick update on the progress.

A few strips put together.

Kona swatch card

Finally got myself one of these. I wonder how I lived without it. No more anxiety trying to find the right shade of fabric. I would highly recommend it.
